a mouse theme

I was going through all my old children's books the other day and I realised that three of my favourite books when I was little all had a mouse theme to them, so the name of my blog must have been destined to be!
A Mouse Family Album by Pamela Sampson- I loved this book.
I used to get mums stool from the kitchen and try and make my bedroom look like 'Amelie Woodmouse's boudoir'.
A Mouse's Diary by Michelle Cartlidge. My sister and I spent ages cataloguing all our books with coloured stickers and barcodes and making our own "Palm Tree Library".
Brambly Hedge "Winter Story" by Jill Barklem
I love this cosy picture. If I could live in an English cottage style home this is how I would want it to look!

Gorgeous books! I've been trying to get hold of Brambly Hedge for our collection, but they are hard to find, and expensive too!

Cute little mouse books. Aren't they sweet?

I used to love Beatrix Potter books. Isn't it nice that little children imagine animals can talk and sew and make broth for dinner etc?

I loved Brambley Hedge too! It was the reason that I cried big tears when my Dad killed a mouse that was in our tent on a camping holiday way back when I was a little girl. Ah, what a memory.

Gosh I think we should start a Brambly Hedge fan club! They really are the loveliest books. I actually got hold of a couple of videos and they're very well done. I don't usually like such things (beloved books turned into movies or programmes) but they're very sweet and true to the books, and better to have that on in my time of need (mostly dinner time) than most of the junk on tv.

what a beautiful post - love the books, so magical. A library, you two were very focused young ones! We used to do a Post Office (but got bored waiting for mail. Have a great weekend x

Very cute! Isn't it funny how kids literature shapes us? I used to love the mice in Bagpuss. Did you ever watch that?

Those Brambley Hedge books are lovely. Doesnt matter how many times you look at the picture there is always something new to see.
