thrifty finds for the week

I finally made it into an op-shop I've been wanting to visit for ages now. It's on the way to my midwife appointments and there always seems to be a lot of cool stuff in the windows when I drive past. And I wasn't disappointed- there were heaps of great things in there!
A little mug for morning tea "milky milo's (50c)

A cute bunny/chick kaleidoscope for an easter treat (20c)
A little glass bowl I'm going to use to put dried lavender in ($3)
My favourite find- this beautiful crochet granny square blanket ($10)

This lovely woolen single blanket ($3). I don't know if you can even buy woolen blankets like this anymore but if you can I can guess they would be a lot more than $3!

I love the blanket - there seems to be a good stash of them over in your part of the world. They're scarce and expensive over here. I just blogged about my first ever granny square. I fear it could be some time until I'm putting a homemade blanket on my bed!

I LOVE your woolen blanket find! I use them as wadding/batting in my quilts. 100% wool, re using, made in NZ and cost effective!

Those are some great finds, especially the crochet blanket. Which opshop were they from? My favourite at the moment is the new salvation army shop in greerton. And the st vincents in the mount, but I don't get over there very often.

How come I never seem to find such amazing things? I adore that crochet blanket, it looks brand new. And that cream hospital blanket will be so useful for so many projects. Good score!!

I'm in love with your blanket, what an amazing find. They are few and far between over here in UK in chairty shops, and if they are, they are super expensive. Would love to make my own, but I am hopeless at crochet so I will keep my eyes peeled! Jenny x

Yes, you can buy 100% wool blankets but they can range upwards from $100 usually. They come in chic colours like "berry" and "charcoal" now. No more plains and plaids! We got a stash of ex-army woollen blankets from Doyles for our bach - $25 each I think. I have to say I feel slightly sad when I see all those plaid blankets chopped up into applique cushion covers!

which op-shop did you find them in, I've only been in Tga for just over a year and am still finding my way around the place and love op-shopping.

OMG, this is on the top of my list too but with little ones I will have to find a way to get in one of those shops kiddie free me thinks!! I am so envious of your granny blanket and wool blanket finds.....I have been looking for one of those granny blankets for ages and wanted a wool blanket for my survival kit but didn't find any at Salvation Army...will definitely check out the op shop though...thanks for reminding me this was on my list!! wow they were some great finds that you got there. Some lovely treasures. The blankets the woolen and crochet in particular are great value. I have found in Welly they are so expensive. I was looking for a crochet one last week and found a few for $60.00 (they were left behind)!! I just love fossicking through the shops.
