a few things I'm loving....

* reading crochet books and making my first apple...bit confused as to why my stitches look different to the apple in the book though...I am doing US SC/UK DC like the book says but I end up with lines like stripes around my apple which I don't mind but just still wondering why mine looks different- anyone know?!
* these 'Sipah' straws you pop in a glass of milk for a flavoured treat (from the supermarket)
* cute little knitted booties given to Jack
* these stamps I found at the Teacher Resource Shop here in Tauranga the other day- one end has the animal stamp and the other end has a little stamp that you roll along to make the animal's footprints!
* this drawing my 4 year old did the other day of our table and chairs outside- Stella scribbled all over it though so I had to twink out her scribbles and photocopy it before Amelie saw it and lost the plot!!!
Picking some wild jasmine- I love the smell of jasmine so much!

Cute apple, which I could help you with that answer, but I am just a novice.... my kids also love the sippahs as a treat, though not surprising as they are also Milo Mad. Cute pic, and quick thinking... anything to avoid a meltdown!
Also love Jasmine... brings back so many childhood memories.

Love your list! Those sipper straws are great!

Your apple looks so cute - I think you've got the stripes because you've done your stitches through just one of the loops (outside or inside), instead of both bits (hard to explain - but hopefully this might help... http://youtu.be/o_6-YsCBH3M)

Still looks awesome!!

hi megan, maybe you are just going through one loop instead of the two loops of the previous round with your crochet apple. good luck with it. your apple looks fantastic by the way.

I agree with the other two comments, I think you are going through one loop instead of the two loops at the top of the stitch. I think it still looks nice with the ridges. I love those stamps too, we have a couple of them.

Yes, going through one loop instead of two gives you that stripe. Great effect though! I love, love, love the tasty crochet book - it always makes me hungry...
Love Kate xxooxx.

If the inside of your apple looks like the outside is supposed to look, you may be wrapping the yarn the wrong direction around the hook-(ie., clockwise instead of counter-clockwise, or vice versa). I've wrapped the wrong way for over 20 years. Or it could be going through 1 loop as the others have said.
