Happy Bastille Day!

Bonjour tout le monde! It's Bastille day today so I thought I'd share a few french things around my house, and a few french inspired goodies too. We're going to have some french onion soup for dinner after seeing the recipe in last month's 'Your Home and Garden' magazine.

I'd love to try a macaron but I'm not sure where to find them in Tauranga- if I lived in Christchurch I'd be heading here today!  Maybe I'll settle for a nice pain au chocolat and a coffee- my hubby has just told me about this cafe Yellow Place French Cafe in Tauranga- am I brave enough to go there with 3 little ones though...?!

Here are a few french books from my bookshelves...
and the Amelie CD and DVD-going to watch the DVD tonight- for about the 6th time :)
In Stella's room- an ABC francais poster my sister bought us from Passion for Paper
'Amelie' movie poster in our hallway- I ordered it from Allposters.com about 7 years ago and got it block mounted at a framers.  Can you tell I like the movie 'Amelie?!'
Brooches from Sophie Isobel Designs and a 'Fragonard' Eiffel Tower cream perfume my hubby bought me last year after seeing it in the Viva magazine- it smells divine.
Fragonard-parfums-capitale
If you like the look of that little perfume World Beauty in Vulcan Lane stocks the range- RRP $20.  I am coveting them all for the cute colours alone!
And here are some more french goodies I found online....

Heck I think you have found more things French than I can find - and I live in France!!! It's not Bastille Day yet here, it's still 13th July for another hour! It's a big National holiday tomorrow, parties and fireworks all over France - we will just go to the fireworks tomorrow night right in front of the Chateau, it's lovely. Linda

I just looked up "happy bastille day" images on google hoping to find something cute to post on my (french) boyfriends wall. The images of the brooches caught my attention, so I had to of course check out this site. I LOVE IT! Automatically had to bookmark this blog, which admittedly is a large feat for someone to get bookmarked. I will be back here very often from now on! Thank you :) :) (Can you tell I'm excited??)

ps- I don't have a blogger...but if it's necessary to get connected more easily I just may become a participant in the near future ;)

Bonjour Megan! I love your French collection. Amelie was one of my favourite movies too, for style. I also enjoyed 'French Women Don't Get Fat' and the accompanying cookbook by Mireille Guiliano. Enjoy Bastille Day!

Love that movie as well. Where is the French cafe? Thats not the one in greerton is it? I have been meaning to try making macrons for ages now, just never get around to it, I don't even know what they taste like, but they are just so cute.
