i ♥ the olympics

Hi all, the kids are loving watching the Olympics so I thought I'd share a few things I've found to get into the Olympics spirit...

olympic craft ideas
This link http://www.redtedart.com/2012/05/01/olympic-crafts-ideas/ takes you to some great Olympics art and craft ideas- I am loving the salt dough medals which I might use for a days teaching I am doing next week in a 5 year old class. I might use air dry clay instead though and just hope it dries in time to paint at the end of the day...

These DIY Olympic torches look fab and not too tricky as well for little ones

My 5 year old has an Olympics day at school coming up and they have to dress up in the colours of  their country- her class is Madagascar - so I made a quick flag out out of felt to safety pin to her top, and stitched some ribbons to a hairclip- saves having to buy clothes in the right colours if you don't have any! Will face paint the flag on the day as well.

Olympics Party
Here are some ideas for an Olympics party-this would be a neat theme for a birthday party while the Olympics is on!

I made these cupcakes using icing pens for a lunchbox treat- like the idea below as well using m n m's- a bit quicker and neater too compared to my wobbly rings!

And I love the Olympics colours in this pic from One Charming Party.

I just ordered  this book 'O is for Olympics' from Book Depository as the girls said they really wanted an Olympics book to read- hopefully I get it before the Olympics are finished!

I also ordered this sticker/colouring in book
London 2012 Sticker Colouring Book: An Official London 2012 Olympic Games
and this book looks great too.
London 2012 Games Activity Handbook
Activity Village has heaps of free Olympics colouring in sheets for kids

For NZ readers here are some links to our NZ Olympic Team

And I shared this clip on my mousehouse facebook page last week- it's the official film of the London Olympics - lots of famous faces to spot...

Go kiwi's!

I love your Olympic cupcakes - what a brilliant idea! I don't usually enjoy watching sports but I've been watching quite a bit and loving it. I think I've become quite knowledgeable about weight-lifting too!

Have a fab week hon,
Leah
